Raven on the First Day
The garden outside my little gallery, is within the territory of a family of Ravens. They come to visit every morning, and it's been fascinating getting to know them.
Mother Raven is boss...and watches over the clan...clever and resourceful, and oh so incredibly beautiful their shiny black feathers look blue in many lights...and watching them fly and manoeuvre around with just a twitch of the tips of their wings...
There are many creation stories involving Ravens...Protecter trickster birds who have so much to teach me....I feed them now in the mornings and have long conversations with them...and this painting is part of that conversation....
The original is the biggest painting Ive done on canvas to date...stepping out into the world of creating actual paintings like a real artist...
It took me a few weeks or working on it...mainly because I was terrified of getting it wrong and stuffing up the birds beauty...
Original: Watercolour acrylic and ink on canvas. 40cmx50cm
